Roxbury's public court scene changed in 2026 with the reconstruction of Kiwanis Park in Succasunna. The park now has lighted shared courts with four pickleball layouts and portable nets. Berkshire Valley Park adds a quieter unlighted option on the western side of the township.

The township covers Succasunna, Ledgewood, Kenvil, Landing, and other neighborhoods, so driving is part of the normal routine. Kiwanis Park is the primary choice for evening games and larger groups. Berkshire Valley Park fits daytime practice or a simple match closer to Wharton and the Berkshire Valley area.

Four New Layouts at Kiwanis Park

Kiwanis Park at 9 Makin Lane in Succasunna has three lighted tennis courts. Two are also striped for pickleball and use portable nets, creating four pickleball courts. The rebuilt facility reopened in July 2026 and is the township's best option for doubles groups, evening play, and sessions that need several courts at once.

Berkshire Valley Park at 79 Mill Road has one tennis court overlaid for pickleball. It has no lights, so it is a daytime option. Both locations use shared tennis surfaces rather than stand alone pickleball courts. Roxbury Recreation manages access through a seasonal tennis and pickleball membership agreement, with the 2026 court season running from April 1 through November 15, weather permitting.

Learning on Shared Courts

A beginner should start at Kiwanis Park with one partner or a small group that can set up a portable net and explain the shared court markings. Use the first session for serving, returning, scoring, and learning the non volley zone. Four pickleball layouts make Kiwanis more suitable than Berkshire Valley for a clinic sized group or rotating doubles.

Roxbury Recreation does not publish a standing township pickleball lesson series on its current program pages. Local players can arrange individual or small group instruction through the coach directory. For indoor practice, PowerZone Volleyball Center in nearby Denville has six hard courts and removes the weather limits of the township's outdoor season.

A car is the practical way to reach the courts across this spread out township. Bring a paddle, outdoor balls, court shoes, water, and an extra layer for spring or fall evenings. Since the local courts use portable nets and seasonal membership rules, a posted organized session or a nearby indoor booking is the simplest option for a traveler arriving alone.
